Free health check-ups and enhanced healthcare for people with meritorious service

In celebration of the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27), healthcare facilities across Hanoi have coordinated with local authorities to provide free medical examinations, consultations, and gifts for war invalids, sick veterans, relatives of martyrs, people with meritorious service to the revolution, and other policy beneficiaries.

As part of these gratitude activities, on July 17, the People's Committee of Hoang Liet Ward, in collaboration with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital under Vietnam National University, Hanoi, organized a program offering free health check-ups, medical consultations, and gifts to people with meritorious service in the locality.

The program provided free medical examinations and consultations for 336 participants, including 226 war invalids, relatives of martyrs, people with meritorious service to the revolution, and other policy beneficiaries, as well as 50 members of the Veterans' Association and 60 grassroots officials. Participants received comprehensive health examinations in accordance with the Ministry of Health's current professional standards across multiple specialties, including internal medicine, surgery, dermatology, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, and dentistry. They also underwent diagnostic procedures such as blood tests, urinalysis, and chest X-rays to facilitate the early detection of common illnesses among older adults.

Following consultations on appropriate nutrition and lifestyle practices, the health examination data of all participants were uploaded to Hanoi's Electronic Health Record system, helping improve the long-term management, monitoring, and healthcare of beneficiaries while advancing digital transformation in the healthcare sector.

A highlight of the program was the launch of a comprehensive healthcare partnership between the People's Committee of Hoang Liet Ward and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital under Vietnam National University, Hanoi (Linh Dam Campus), aimed at implementing long-term community healthcare initiatives, with priority given to people with meritorious service and policy beneficiary families.

In addition to providing healthcare services for people with meritorious service, the hospital will continue working with grassroots healthcare providers in emergency response, professional training, and technology transfer, contributing to strengthening the capacity of the primary healthcare system and bringing advanced medical services closer to local residents.

As part of the program, the organizers also presented gifts from the city, local authorities, and the hospital to outstanding policy beneficiary families. Savings books funded by the Hoang Liet Ward "Gratitude and Repayment" Fund were also awarded to policy beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, Dong Do Hospital, in coordination with the People's Committee of Kim Lien Ward, organized comprehensive health examinations and in-depth medical screenings for war invalids, sick veterans, relatives of martyrs, and people with meritorious service to the revolution. Through these examinations, doctors identified a number of chronic diseases at an early stage while providing guidance on nutrition, daily living habits, medication use, and proactive health management.

More than 2,100 gift packages to be presented for National Day

Continuing its gratitude activities, the People's Committee of Hanoi has recently issued Plan No. 283/KH-UBND on presenting gifts to policy beneficiaries with meritorious service to the revolution and revolutionary establishments on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2026).

Under the plan, the city will present 2,107 gift packages with a total budget of nearly VND 10.4 billion. The visits and gift presentations are required to be conducted transparently, promptly, and for the correct beneficiaries, with all activities to be completed before September 1, 2026.

For outstanding organizations and individuals, chairpersons of commune- and ward-level People's Committees are authorized to organize visits and present gifts to revolutionary establishments that have been awarded the State titles of the Certificate of Meritorious Service to the Nation or the Medal for Meritorious Service in Supporting the Revolution During the Resistance War, with each establishment receiving VND 27 million. In addition, local authorities will visit and present gifts to two exemplary families of people with meritorious service in each locality, with each gift valued at VND 12 million.

The Hanoi People's Committee has assigned relevant departments, sectors, and local authorities to coordinate the implementation of the plan while strengthening inspection and supervision to ensure that visits and gift presentations are carried out for the correct beneficiaries, in accordance with regulations, and in a transparent and timely manner. Authorities are also tasked with strictly addressing any cases of policy abuse or fraudulent claims for benefits.
