The consolidation of key leadership positions by the 16th National Assembly has been viewed by many international organizations, partners, and overseas Vietnamese communities as an important political milestone. It ensures continuity in governance, strengthens confidence, and opens up opportunities to advance reform, integration, and the country’s standing in a new stage of development.

At the session, 495 out of 495 lawmakers voted in favour of the resolution approving his appointment. The resolution affirms that Le Minh Hung, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission, and a deputy to the 16th NA, will serve as Prime Minister for the 2026-2031 term.

Presenting a draft resolution on the election of the State President, NA General Secretary and Chairman of the NA Office Le Quang Manh stated that, based on the Constitution, relevant legal provisions and the official vote-counting record, the legislature resolved to elect Party General Secretary To Lam as State President.

At the First Session of the 16th National Assembly, Member of the Politburo and Chairman of the 15th National Assembly Tran Thanh Man was re-elected by an absolute vote of confidence to serve as Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 16th tenure. On this occasion, parliamentary leaders of Laos, China, and Cambodia sent messages and letters of congratulations.

Following the vote, NA Chairman Man took the oath of office. Under the national flag, before the NA and voters nationwide, he pledged absolute loyalty to the Fatherland, the people and the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and committed to fulfilling the duties entrusted by the Party, State and people.
