Dossiers decoding the code name of Unit 962, a map indicating the burial area of 21 fallen soldiers at Hospital K76A T7 under Military Region 7, and keepsakes related to southeastern battlefields from 1966 to 1972,... have been handed over to Vietnamese authorities by Vietnam Wartime Accounting Initiative (VWAI) to identify burial sites, find relatives and conduct DNA matching under the 500-day-and-night campaign.

As part of the 500-Day Campaign to accelerate the search, recovery, and identification of fallen soldiers' remains, task forces in Da Nang and Cao Bang discovered and recovered multiple sets of remains on July 13.

Shortly after issuing a public appeal for information on the burial sites of soldiers who were killed during the battle at Tan Son Nhat Airport in the 1968 Tet Offensive, the Ho Chi Minh City High Command received more than 50 phone calls and text messages from witnesses and local residents. The information has provided additional leads to support the verification, search, recovery, and identification of the fallen soldiers' remains.

In response to the "500-day and night campaign to complete DNA sample collection for relatives of unidentified martyrs," after seven days of intensive DNA sample collection from relatives of fallen soldiers, the Nghe An Provincial Police collected 17,831 biological samples, making an important contribution to the ongoing efforts to search for, recover, and identify the remains of martyrs whose identities have yet to be established.

Implementing Decision No. 27/QD-BCDQG dated March 22, 2026, issued by the National Steering Committee, and in preparation for the 80th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2027), the Hanoi People's Committee has launched the "500-Day Campaign for the Search, Recovery, and Identification of Fallen Soldiers' Remains."

The Ministry of Public Security's Department of Political Affairs organized the special political-art program "DNA - Reconnecting the Roots" to promote the significance of the "500-Day Campaign for the Search, Recovery, and Identification of Fallen Soldiers' Remains" on the evening of June 30. The program also introduced new advances in DNA technology, offering renewed hope to hundreds of thousands of families still searching for their loved ones after decades.
