Resolution 57

Assessing the issuance of Resolution 57-NQ/TW by the Politburo on breakthroughs in national science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, Professor Vu Minh Khuong from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (Singapore) emphasized that this is an exceptionally significant resolution. It positions science, technology, and the digital revolution as decisive production forces that can help Vietnam escape the middle-income trap.

The Vietnam National University (VNU) - Ho Chi Minh City already kicked off the VNU350 Programme in February, aiming to attract 350 top-tier young scientists and industry experts by 2030.

On December 22, 2024, the Politburo issued Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in science and technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. For the first time, these areas have been prioritized as the “top critical breakthrough,” serving as the main driving force for rapidly developing a modern productive force, refining production relations, innovating national governance methods, advancing socio-economic development, preventing the risk of stagnation, and propelling Vietnam toward prosperity in the new era.

On December 22, 2024, Party General Secretary To Lam signed and promulgated Resolution 57-NQ/TW (Resolution 57) of the Politburo, towards breakthroughs in national science-technology development, innovation, and digital transformation. Emphasizing that scientists are pivotal actors, Resolution 57 introduces numerous incentive mechanisms and grants scientists greater autonomy, thereby motivating their creativity and dedication.
