VUFO Mobilizes Support For Compatriots Affected by Storm No. 3
	Northern Vietnam's Tourism Witnesses Recovery after Typhoon Yagi

The World University Service (WUS) German, with the support of the Hessen state of Germany, on September 23 handed over 18 water filters - Portable Aqua Unit for Live Saving (PAUL) to areas affected by natural disasters in Vietnam.

Head of the Representative Office of the State of Hessen in Vietnam, Dr. Bui Cong Tho shared that people in areas affected by storm No. 3 - Yagi in Northern Vietnam and now the whole Central Vietnam due to storm No. 4 are in dire need of clean drinking water because many water pipes were damaged by the storm and many dirty water reservoirs cannot be used.

Tho said that in recent years, the WUS has actively mobilized, donated and sponsored a total of 411 PAUL water filtration units to Vietnam, installed in schools in remote areas and areas frequently affected by natural disasters and floods in Vietnam.

Thanks to that, more than 1.6 million people in Vietnam have clean drinking water; students, teachers and people in the surrounding areas have clean water for daily use.

Dr. Kambiz Ghawami, president of the WUS Germany, on September 12 presented a water filter to Vietnamese typhoon victims through Politburo member, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, and President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang, who led the delegation to Germany.

Immediately after, the German nonprofit organization actively mobilized and donated 18 more PAUL water filtration units to Vietnam to people in the provinces suffering from natural disasters.

All of these devices were transported free of charge by Vietnam's national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines from Frankfurt to Vietnam.

Invented by Prof. Franz-Bernd Frechen from the University of Kassel in Hessen, Germany, the PAUL, the ‘WaterBackpack’, is a small and portable (23 kg) membrane filtration unit. It can filter 1,200 liters of water per day, usually significantly more (even up to 6,000 liters per day).

PAUL removes bacteria, viruses and other pathogens almost up to 99.99999% from contaminated water without needing chemicals or electrical energy.
